Corviid (Varyn Ebner)
Corviid (aka Varyn Ebner) is a self-taught multidisciplinary and multimedia artist, They specialize in: fine art paintings & illustrations, sculpture, jewelry, costuming & headdresses, fabrication, prop-making, makeup design, conceptual design, choreography, and performance art. They are director of the dance troupe Ego Umbra. Their art has been featured in published books, movies & shows, large-scale art installations, and album covers.
Their style is surrealistically macabre. The works contain elements of anatomy, natural history, occult and ritual, sacred and symbolic geometry, architecture, and ornamentation. Each work is given a strong philosophical undertone; through their art, they touch on issues of metaphysics, existentialism, death, mathematical archetypes, duality and dialectical monism, and our relationship as humans to other organisms, nature, and the universe.
They illustrated (under the former name Raven Ebner) the book Effigy: Of Graven Image and Holy Idol by Martin Duffy and published by Three Hands Press. They have exhibited at the 2015 Esoteric Book Conference in Seattle, Washington. They also worked on the show Archive 81, as a consultant and designer of occult imagery.
